Valletta at last

On Saturday, surprise, surprise, I felt quite bright so decided to go to Valletta.  Took the first bus there which seemed to be the one that went the long pretty route.  On arrival the bus was directed away from the bus station by the carnival stewards and I followed the crowds into the old part of the city.  I could see at once that it was not a day for sightseeing.  Most of the children were in fancy dress and even some adults.  I took a picture of a man and his two small sons dressed as policemen with his wife and daughter dressed as the robbers.

As I had been told there was a vehicle decked out with a DJ playing music so loud it made your chest vibrate.  Following on were groups of children with fantastic carnival costumes.  Each group with a different theme and doing a different dance.

I could only imagine what the evening event would be like but I was not up to coping with it so after a stop for coffee, only to be told they where not doing coffee that day, I settled for a tonic and decided to go back to the hotel. Not as easy as I had thought.  At the bus station there was no sign of the bus I needed.  I asked three different people and was pointed in three different directions.  In the end I managed to track down where the buses had been directed and sunk gratefully into a seat.
