Tuk tuk ride in Gozo

 Not posted for some time in part because I was busy/lazy and in part because I couldn't find  a table at the right high to type on.  Found suitable table but the sun is so bright I can't see the screen.  I have now come down to the basement where I can at least see what I'm doing.  Couple of days ago went on the Gozo tuk tuk tour.  Picked up at 8.45 and arrived back at 5.30 so it was a full day.  The boat ride to the island was somewhat bumpy and some of the roads leave a lot to be desired  At times I feared for the fillings I had done a day before I left home but generally it was a really nice trip.  The driver, Herman, was Dutch and spoke German for the two girls from Austria and English for the four English ladies.  It was good to see some interesting buildings instead of the concrete blocks that seem to make up the area where I am staying.  Lunch was included with wine, water and an almond drink.  A selectin of starters with bread followed by a typical  dish of the area of pasta.  Trip back on the boat was much calmer and really quite a pleasure.

I have now moved and I'm looking forward to the summer

 Its  now just three weeks since I moved into my flat.  Three weeks that have had their ups and downs.  Ups - the move went well and I was in by late afternoon.  Also the removal people looked after not just my belonging but me as well.  I have a small outdoor space although as yet I have had nether the time or the weather to do much with it.  I've met three of my new neighbours and they seem friendly.  Downs - I now have an induction hob which meant that only a couple of frying pans and a milk saucepan would work on it and I have had to buy a complete set of new saucepans.  The blind in the bathroom has stuck half way.  With clear glass in the window I now have a large scarf covering the bottom half .  Not the prettiest of sights.  But the worst thing was the first couple of weeks when there was so much to do I hardly knew where to start.  Because I couldn't cook I was eating rubbish food,  I had no internet which is...

Winds keep blowing in Malta

 Yesterday there was some excitement in the hotel as young  skinny girls arrived, dressed up to the nines with 6 inch heels as thin as a pencil.  It seemed it was Miss Univers 2025 and the contestants for this year.   They were to be presented at 10 pm that evening and I am sure they were but I was upstairs getting ready for bed.  Today it was supposed to be stormy but this afternoon the sun was shining so I ventured out and went to Bugibba.  It is known as the place for lively nightlife but with a lot of workmen and machines all over the place it didn't quite live up to its billing.  I went into an outdoor cafe to have coffee and the wind was so strong it blow the cardboard cup of milk all over the place and I feared the cup would follow but at least it didn't rain Have booked to go on a tu tu tour of Gozo on Tuesday as the weather is forecast to be sunny and calm.  Also booked a tour of 3 cities and wine tasting for the following Tuesday....

To Spain and back

 I had hoped to blog while I was in Spain for a week but it was not to be.  I had a good time and thanks to my friend's fitbit I now know I am not the wimp I thought I might be.  She told me that nearly everyday we not only managed 10,000 steps but one day got up to 17,000 steps. I had wondered if the assistance we had book at the airports was really necessary.  I have been converted.  Not so much by being whizzed about in a buggy but the fact that we jumped all the queues and didn't have to stand for long periods.  However what with getting up at 6.30 am and not getting home till 6.30 pm, even with assistance, I was shattered.   I am now, hopefully, back to normal and looking to move home in the next 16 days or so.  Still waiting for a date so can't book my removal company or let everybody know my new address.  House now looks like a cross between a warehouse and a teenager's bedroom with stuff all over the place.  But I find I can igno...
