Three cities and wine tasting tour
Having missed the tour the first time I was outside with time to spare. The pickup was outside the hotel but on the other side of the road. May explain how I missed it the first time. It was just a morning tour so I had envisaged - stop at first city, short walk round back on coach - repeat another couple of times. But I had forgotten how small the cities are and how close they are to each other. What happened was an hour of continues walking up and down steps and along pretty plant filled streets. I did learn that old renovated houses were not that popular with the Maltese as there was never any parking so many had been turned into aurb&bs. By the end of it I couldn't wait to get back onto the coach. The cities were next to Valletta and on the harbor so once back on the coach it was a short ride to the wine tasting. It was in an old building which I gather also housed a restaurant, Long tables were set up with one a crossed the back of building with a selection of nibbles. Bread, Maltese pie, olives, and various other dips and things. We lined up to file our plates and at the end was a glass of white wine. A jolly man then explained something of the wine growing history of the island and we all tasted. I found it much better than the wine we had free with the meals at the hotel. When our glasses were empty they came round with the pink wine. It was fizzy and not to my taste so I didn't finish it which left me without an empty glass for the red wine. When they came round I just said I didn't drink red wine and after a little joke they left me to it. An interesting tour but not what I was expecting.
