House moving - trials and tribulations

It was in April 2022 that I decided my gardens were getting too much for me and decided to put my house on the market.  15 June 2022 put in an offer on a lovely flat.  19 June 2022 was guzumpt.   27 June put an offer in on another flat.  4 July offer accepted if I sold my house within six weeks.  By reducing price I did so and was looking forward to moving to my new home. Come 15 December I was still waiting for paperwork so my purchase could be completed.  I'd had enough and withdrew my offer only to be offered a reduction of £5000.  But what was the good of that.  I had prior to this been looking at other proprieties so was able to put in my third offer on a modern flat which was accepted.  Yesterday my solicitor sent me a bundle of paperwork which hopefully means I can sign contract before I go on holiday on 21 February.  Everybody talks of the difficulties of buying and selling properties.  I now know what they mean but fingers crossed my difficulties will soon be over.   Then will just be the problems of fitting my stuff from a three bed house into a two bed flat. But what else would I be doing with my time.

When I was young I remember two of my mothers sayings.  Waste not want not and it might do them a turn .  In this throw away society it seems for a lot of people these sayings have been forgotten, which is a shame given the state of the planet.  Or is that too big a thought.  Then try this - on a website which allows people to give things away free there are postings like, I have just got my first place and I need so many things, I have baby clothes to give away, before I take this to the tip would anybody like it.  Before and since I've moved I have been giving things away like gardening tools now I don't have a garden, furniture I don't have room for in my smaller flat and the boxes and packing stuff from my move.  I am due to give that away to a couple who know they will be moving in the summer.  I'm not saying I'm a wonderful, caring person, after all I would've probably have had to pay somebody to take all my stuff to the tip if I hadn't given it...

To blog or not to blog that is the question

 I have been settling into my new home which is one of the reasons I have made no posting of late.  However that was just an excuse I made to myself.  The real reason is that nobody is reading this blog and although I started with great enthusiasm it is defiantly wearing thin.  I feel I must soon make a decision I must either give up or find a way to put this blog out into the blogosphere.  If only I knew how.  Trouble is when you start a blog at my age you are not surrounded by other bloggers or people that know about such things.  Maybe I have to read the blogs of other older people and find out from them what to do.  Seems like a plan just have to do it.

Life is for living

 Can't believe its ten days since I last posted.  Things have been happening and my brain is having trouble keeping up.  First in two days I go on holiday with my friend to Spain.  Now have everything laid out on the spare bed ready to be packed.  Least ways I think I have everything.  The other day I realised I had forgotten to get any euros then yesterday when I was charging my phone I remembered I needed an adapter which of course I had already pack in a removal box.  A scramble in all the boxes then ensued. I can't wait to get to Spain when I can do nothing but rest my brain and enjoy myself.   My house move is now teetering.  My sellers can't move out till at least 7 March and the first couple in the chain have to complete by 20 March.  So I will return to finish packing up my belongings and starting over in a new flat.  Is this really what an eighty year old should be doing?  Of course it is.  I have no desire t...
